Merike Estna _DISPOSABLE GLOVES GUIDE

MERIKE ESTNA
“DISPOSABLE GLOVES GUIDE”

27.07-2.09.2018
Kim? Contemporary Art Centre, Riga

Merike Estna is one of the most notable representatives from the young generation of Estonian artists, whose work can be largely described as performative. Her art tends to leave the boundaries set by the canvas, physically fusing with the space surrounding it, simultaneously challenging the viewer’s former notions of the painting genre and the boundaries of its perception.

Disposable Gloves Guide is Merike Estna’s first solo exhibition in Latvia. It will further continue deciphering the ambiguous relationship between painting and crafts, as well as craftsmanship as a set of skills that are being gradually eradicated from our daily lives as a result of the convergence towards a technology-led lifestyle. The opening event will be accompanied by Merike Estna’s Red Herring performance within the exhibition.
